Aet. 36, to a French man of letters. Chapter 5 of George Moore’s Confessions of a Young Man meditated on “a woman of thirty”; his translation of a passage from Théophile Gautier’s Mademoiselle de Maupin turned up in Chapter 4. Confessions was serialized in Dujardin’s Revue indépendante until August 1888. The book Confessions d’un Jeune Anglaise came out in 1889.
