Aet. 36, to an art critic, writer and artist. George Moore’s polemical essay “Mummer-Worship” for Quilter’s Universal Review included a quote from the Era (10 March 1888). George’s essay got a lot of attention when published in September 1888. He continued his diatribe with “The Intelligence of Actors” in the National Observer (13 June 1891).
