Aet. 35, to a French man of letters. Following serialization in Time (July-November 1887), George Moore’s Confessions of a Young Man was published in February 1888. At first the book faced stiff headwinds in the trade, partly because of the reception of his novel A Mere Accident (1887). Confessions would be translated into French for serialization in Dujardin’s Revue indépendante (March-August 1888). Gustave Kahn’s poem “Eventails” appeared in Revue indépendante (February 1888).
