Aet. 34, to a French businessman, author, and art collector. Duret’s article about James Whistler’s watercolors appeared in the Revue indépendante (January 1887). In his Preface to Terre d’lrlande, dated 20 August 1886 from Brighton, George Moore dedicated the book to Édouard Manet and through him to all Paris. The English edition Parnell and His Island (1887) lacked a preface. Duret later became Manet’s biographer.
