Aet. 34, to a French man of letters. George Moore expressed his appreciation of Goncourt’s journal Idées et Sensations (1866, 1877); previously unpublished extracts were now appearing in Le Figaro. A French translation of George’s essays were serialized as “Lettres sur I’lrlande” in Le Figaro starting 31 July 1886; the English version would be named Parnell and His Island (1887). An unsigned translation of Goncourt’s novel Zemganno Brothers was published in 1886. Marie de Saint-Paul de Sinéty, the wife of Robert de Bonnières, was profiled in Goncourt’s Journal (Le Figaro, 2 May 1886).
