Menu of Letters 1886

Aet. 33, to Henry Barnett, editor of the Court and Society Review. Letters from Charles Russell and from priest, author and educator John George Wenham (1821-1895) to the Tablet and Weekly Register (23 January 1886) denied that George Moore had attended Prize Day at the school. A Modern Lover was reviewed in The Spectator (18 August 1883) by the Irish novelist Frances Cashel Hoey. The particular letter to The Times signed “A British Matron” has not been found (the nom de plume was common). The same writer was referenced in Literature at Nurse (1885, page 16).
