Aet. 33, to a French novelist. In ”La Censure” (Le Figaro, 7 November 1885) Zola protested the withholding of a theatrical license for his dramatization of Germinal. George Moore contributed a Preface to The Rush for Spoil (a translation of Zola’s novel La Curée published by Vizetelly). His announcement of Zola’s novel L’Œuvre appeared in the Bat (10 November 1885). No review of L’Œuvre has been found in the Academy.
