Aet. 33, to a French artist. Blanche dated this letter “Summer 1885” in his book Portraits of a Lifetime. George Moore’s Le Sycamore, a French translation edited by Paul Alexis of W.S. Gilbert’s play Sweethearts (1874), was staged at the Odéon on 20 September 1894; a copy of the unpublished manuscript is in the Archives de France. Monsieur et Madame Blanche were the artist’s parents.
