Aet. 29, to a French novelist, enclosing an essay “Zola at Work” in the Burlington (April 1881). George Moore recalled his introduction to Zola by the painter Édouard Manet at the Elysée Montmartre in Paris in January 1879. He mentioned their mutual friends Paul Alexis and Leon Hennique. And he asked Zola to endorse him as the first English translator of the novel L’Assommoir.
