[Monday] January 29th [1894]
I am sorry that you received a cross letter from me when you were ill. In attenuation I shall plead that I should not have cared sufficiently to write a cross letter to any[one] else. I have a friend who constantly asks me to come and see her and almost as constantly writes to put me off. I never write her cross letters. You said yesterday that I only cared for you when I was with you. This is not true; but I guess what prompted the remark and I assure you that you are mistaken, quite mistaken. I am sorry you were not cross. You must go away on Monday to Folkestone and get well; a week will put you all right. If you like I [will] come down to see you.
I liked your friend Mrs Hanbury and should like to continue the acquaintance. I wonder if she would like me [to] call on her; you might find out.
Yours always
George Moore
