1886-08 to Harry Quilter

Autograph letter signed, Gordon N. Ray, 160 words

[Edited for paragraph breaks, capitalization, spelling and punctuation.]

The Green, Southwick, Near Brighton

[August 1886]

My dear Quilter

If you have read A Drama in Muslin I shall feel much obliged if you will drop me a line letting me know what you think of it. It has not been as well received by the press as AMW but the best critics — my Dutch admirer, my French friend, and my fellow workers here — say there is no falling off — that in a different way it is as good as anything I have done. Now I should like to hear what you have to say.

I hope you are getting on with your work —- I see it mentioned from time to time in the papers. When do you expect to get done? I know you are a quick writer.

If you have seen my book write and let me know what you think.

Yours sincerely

George Moore
