Published December 1883 at 1/-. Incorrectly dated 1885 in British Museum Library Catalogue. It is presumably this annual that Charles Morgan had in mind when in his Epitaph on George Moore (p 11) he speaks of “a collection of stories, one signed ‘George Moore’, which under the general title of Wine, Women and Nuts is on the shelves of the British Museum,” but which is not listed in the BML Catalogue.

Contributions by GM
- “Dolorida” p 3, an English translation of a poem in French by Algernon Charles Swinburne.
- Swinburne denied authorship of the poem in a letter in the Pall Mall Gazette, 25 December 1883. Thomas J. Wise, whose statements must always be taken with a grain of salt, discusses this at length in his A Bibliography of the Writings in Prose and Verse of Algernon Charles Swinburne (B17), and gives facsimiles of three manuscripts of the poem, supposedly in Swinburne’s hand, as well as GM’s translation from Walnuts and Wine and another made by GM for Edmund Gosse.
- “A Russian Husband” pp 18-21, a short story, never reprinted
