Friday night [24 January 1890]
My dear Miss Millman
I was very sorry to hear that your friend had persuaded you to leave town for I had looked forward to seeing you on Sunday — now I must look forward to seeing you when you return. I hope your absence will not be prolonged.
I have been working all day at my play which I think is coming out very well. I spent an unhappy six months trying to write it; for two years I thought about it and now I am writing it very easily.
I have lived with the characters such a long while. It seems to me to be the best thing I have done. Be this as it may, the illusion is agreeable and I am in excellent spirits. I will send it to you when I have advanced it another stage.
I must not write anymore: I am too full of my work for letter writing and it seems so egotistic to write about oneself and yet self is the essence of letter writing.
I hope that if you have any spare time you will write to me and that you will believe me to be
Most sincerely yours
George Moore
