8 Kings Bench Walk, Temple

[Wednesday] April 1st 1891

My dear Archer

I have just finished reading Hedda Gabler. It is superb — like a piece of Balzac. I never read anything with greater interest. Let me have the fourth act as soon as you can.

A copy of my book is waiting for you. I must send it or bring it. If you can write a little something about it you will do me a great favour.

The meaning of Hedda Gablerr seems to me to be quite clear: but G.H McCarthy tells me that you and he hold opposite views regarding its meaning.

Yours always

George Moore.

I think that you ought to act on the committee of the Independent Theatre. You and I will have to decide what plays are to be done. That will be all.
