Dear Sir,
I have read your alarming announcement, made under the heading of ”A Sinister Rumour,” that the Board of Education does not intend to introduce any measure for the teaching of Irish in the Irish-speaking districts. So I write to tell you that my help is at your call if I can help you in setting an agitation on foot which will compel the Commissioners to make Irish the vehicle of instruction in the schools of the Irish-speaking districts. It seems to me that the Irish priests might be asked to forbid children to attend the schools in which Irish is not taught — or you might summon a great meeting in the Rotunda. But, far better than I, you will be able to decide the course to take in this emergency. I will do all I can to help you, for all my hopes of Ireland are set on the preservation of her language.
Yours very truly,
GEORGE MOORE
P.S. I enclose a cheque for £5
