Dear Clara Lanza

I have much to say but if I write more than half a dozen lines I shall miss the post. I send you the first act. Pray get the first page recopied so that the extra scene which is absolutely essential may be included. This little scene is essential because l’exposition de la piece was too rapid to be followed by an audience. I hope you will like the act, I confess I do. I am writing the second act and I hope to send it on Saturday.
