3 Danes Inn, Wych Street, Strand

[13 January 1886]

Je vous ai demandé quelques notes biographiques et vous me dites que votre père est Irlandais. Voyons! Can’t you not tell me something more — what part [of] Tyrone did your father come from? Had your father ever any Irish property? What was the name of his place? When did he leave Ireland, and why? Can you tell me nothing of yourself? Have you forgotten all about your childhood and how you first began to develop a talent for music — a sheet of letter paper will tell me all I want to know, Write by return of post.

Yours very truly

George Moore

Send me an outline of the opera you have sent in to the Opéra-Comique but whatever you do or don't do write by return.
