Dear Sir

I hope you have received the copy of A Drama in Muslin which I sent you last week. I shall be glad to hear what you think of it.

Here opinion varies. Some say it is not up to the mark, others on the contrary declare it to be the best thing I have done. I think the book has been misunderstood.

My publisher sent your book to a lady who knows Dutch and read it and offered to tell us what she thought of it [if] we paid her 10£. To pay her such a price for an opinion was of course out of the question, and since then we have been looking out vainly for someone who knows Dutch. I dare say however it will [be] all right in the end and my publisher will issue the book in English. Nor do I think there will be any difficulty in getting him to publish a translation of your long novel — the book you are now writing.

Hoping to hear from you believe me

Yours truly

George Moore
