Autograph letter signed, National Library of Ireland, 173 words

92, VICTORIA STREET, S.W.

Thursday [18 October 1900]

Dear Nia,

Will you please write to Stead at once telling him that I have received an article from South Africa describing the barbarities which our generals have to resort to in order to quell the Boers. Apparently the Spanards did not behave worse in Cuba.

The publication of this article on the top of the elections would be a fine stroke and would help to redeem English opinion from the savage rage it has drifted into. Tell Stead that the article is excellently well done. Perhaps the simplest explanation will be this letter — enclose it if you like.

Ah, I forgot you cannot; perhaps you might copy a few lines. Only do this at once and tell Stead to write or wire at once. The article is for sale, tell him that. I have to dispose of it.

Always yours

George Moore
