I am glad to hear that you have had your last proofs. I have never known a book to take so long to print. As for the preface I will send it to you when I can get it from the printer. I have been to Lane's office many times but it seems impossible to move them. Will you try?
Esther Waters is a great success and people have ceased to advise me to give up novel writing and confine myself to art criticism. At least a month has passed without a word of such advice.
I am very busy preparing new editions of some of my old books — the Confessions and A Mere Accident.
Always yours
George Moore
