1889-06 to Clara Lanza

Printed letter, Life of George Moore (1936, p.159), 126 words

[Edited for paragraph breaks, capitalization, spelling and punctuation.]

[June 1889]

Mrs. Atherton said: ”I think I know a friend of yours...." I felt quite proud and pleased. She says you are the most beautiful woman in New York, and I know you are one of the cleverest. Ah, quelle nostalgie d'Amerique!...

Mrs. Atherton is going to spend the summer in a convent in Boulogne. I think I'll run over there. She is amusing and talks readily of you.

I have written you out my thoughts as they pass, as they dart through my mind. I have not considered for a second what I should say or how I should say it.
