My dear Maurice
I have tried again and again to see Julian about the 500£ but in vain. I think I told you that I had offered, on condition of his not drawing his money out of Moore Hall property, to pay him 10 percent; this with his 500£, properly invested, would give him an income of 3£ a week. In reply to this proposal he wrote threatening me with personal violence. I now hear that he is threatening to take action if I do not pay him his charge in full and at once.
There will [be] no difficulty in finding someone willing to invest money at so high a rate of interest, but did you ever hear of such conduct? As you say, he must be mad.
One proposal he made to me was to come to see me on condition that I was to repudiate you. Now he will spend his money and then will apply to me to support him — I must suppose such to be his intention; more or less conscious of course.
Always affectionately yours
George Moore
