1894-02-21 to Angelena Frances Milman

Autograph letter signed, University of Kansas, 217 words

[Edited for paragraph breaks, capitalization, spelling and punctuation.]

8 Kings Bench Walk, Temple

[Wednesday] Feb 21 [1894]

The MS has come to me, the proof no doubt has gone to you. On second thoughts I do not feel sure of the wisdom of the corrections I made. I cannot mend another’s text. I have no talent for editing. Still the fact of my having altered a sentence shows that I felt the need of some alteration, and my clumsiness will at least serve a purpose if it directs your attention to weak places.

I am glad to hear that I am to meet you at dinner next Tuesday. I went to the Academy yesterday, and the pictures are so beautiful that I could not help regretting your inability to give up a Russian lesson to see them.

Yours always

George Moore

PS You can send me the proofs if you like. On folding up the parcel I find that the proofs are with the MS. I have not looked at it. But do you look through it carefully. If you are in doubt or if you would like to go through them with me, I need hardly say that I am at your disposal.
