92 Victoria Street

Friday evening [13 March 1896]

My dear Fisher Unwin,

I am getting on with my novel but slowly. I do not think I shall have finished it for at least another year. I have no intention of hurrying myself; I must take my time with this book. If in eight or nine months time it suits your American colleague to publish it in his magazine he shall do so.

Very sincerely yours

George Moore

There are only two ways of writing a novel: either three months like Crockett or three years like me.
