8 Kings Bench Walk, Temple

[Tuesday] March 1st 1892

My dear Maurice

I enclose a letter which I have received from Augustus. Will you write telling him that I accept your arbitration in this matter?

So far as the past is concerned, the value of the house has by mutual agreement been divided between us.

Will you also mention that reconciliation between Augustus and me is impossible? I cannot forget or forgive the shocking manner in which he has spoken of me in his journal. I went to him and warned him that if he again called the finances of the Independent Theatre into question that I could never speak to him again. I told him that to do so was equivalent to calling me a thief. He refused to take the warning, now let him abide the consequences.

I wish you could come up to town for the performance on Friday. Can you?

Yours always

George Moore

Please write to Augustus at your early convenience. You can send him this letter.
